The Social Hearth Project is designed to use the fireplace in my East Village apartment as a place to render social media trends, patterns and interactions into abstract visual data - largely light. This will be done by communicating with social media networks like Twitter over APIs and pushing retrieved data to an Arduino system. Here, I will be detailing the resources, progress, and ideas I have related to this project.

Resources

  • Twitter4j - Library for Processing interactions with Twitter API [1]
  • Instructables lesson that uses Library in Processing sketch (v. helpful!) [2]
  • Fading an LED on an Arduino - Code Example [3]
