before i crash for the evening, a quick note on sphere, the best bad sci fi thriller of the 1990’s. it was just on “chiller” (what kind of a name is that for a tv network?), and I finally got a chance to see the whole thing.

for the first time since around 1999.

i frickin’ love this movie, and i don’t want to talk about the plot because that’s about the only good thing going on for this movie. besides dustin hoffman. and samuel l. jackson.

what’s so great about this movie is that it rehashes the essential message of alien intelligence science fiction, namely that experiencing an extraterrestrial only tells you about yourself. see solaris for the original idea.

but you’ve gotta almost die.
