blogging on the olpc

October 12th, 2008 · 1 Comment

is really hard. like these letters have got to be below 5 point font. then there’s  this keyboard, rubberized but tiny. like text message small. still, blogging on this cute little machine is fun. because of the high i always get in using new gadgetry.

in other (BAAAAAAAD!!!!) news. i cracked the screen for my macbook last night. and i’d alreay been thinking that i needed a little hyper portable cloud computing device. just to manage my blogging, wiki notes, and email. the cracked screen is gonna cost like $200. which totally sucks.

then, again, the olpc is simply not a blogger’s machine. sorry cute globalization assistant you can take your pint size imperialism somewhere else.

Why would you expect a computer designed for six-year-olds to suit an adult? you can run the Ubuntu or Fedora packages on a regular laptop. Leave the XOs to the kiddies. Although with a USB keyboard and mouse, the XO works fine for light word processing.

Note also that the total cost of an XO is less than your cracked Mac screen.
